Your help is needed to support an amendment in House Ways and Means budget legislation for fiscal 2015. The amendment is based on MTA's bill to revive the Foundation Budget Review Commission (H.457/S.207).
The funding formula for Massachusetts public schools hasn't been updated in more than 20 years. Without a systematic review on a regular basis, our schools will not get the necessary funding that will help all students succeed.
Representative Lori Ehrlich has filed an amendment (#243) to the House budget to include this important language. The House will begin debate on the budget on April 28, but representatives can sign on as co-sponsors of the Ehrlich amendment through Friday, April 18. We need 81 votes in the House to secure passage.
Please click here to send an e-mail to your representative urging passage of this amendment.
Better yet, take the time to make a phone call. You can reach your representative's office through the main phone number at the State House at 617.722.2000. Meeting with your representative — in your district or at the State House — is especially effective and always encouraged.
As always, thank you for all you do for students and for public education.

Please be advised that in keeping with our policy, the MTA is alerting its members that they may be contacted by the NEA within the next few weeks from neasurvey@nea.org.   The purpose is to randomly survey selected members to participate. The assessment is consistent with NEA UniServ Guidelines adopted by the NEA Board of Directors on May 2, 2008, and requires NEA to assess each state affiliate’s UniServ Program at least once every (6) years.

Thank you.
