For the past four years, the National Center for Race Amity at Wheelock College has collaborated with the MTA to address the challenging issue of racial bigotry and prejudice in society.
The annual National Race Amity Conference, to be held November 14 and 15 at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center in Norwood, provides resources for teachers to gain skills and insights in order to help them address the complex issue of race.
Participants may earn 10 professional development points (PDPs) through Wheelock College.
Scholarships sponsored by the MTA and the National Center for Race Amity will cover much of the conference registration fee for up to 25 MTA members. Hotel and transportation charges are the responsibility of the participant.
The MTA scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with preference given to members who have not received funding for this conference in the past. Interested MTA members should e-mail Jessica Parlon, jparlon@massteacher.org, in the Division of Training and Professional Learning, for the MTA Scholarship Registration Code.
Registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 12.
